Áncora

Terms of Service

These are the terms under which you may use Áncora (the iOS app and the marketing pages at ancoraapp.org).

1. Who we are

Áncora is a Spanish-language daily Christian devotional app published by MEAS Partners, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. When we say "we," "us," or "Áncora," we mean MEAS Partners, LLC. When we say "you," we mean the person using the app or visiting the website.

By downloading, opening, or using Áncora, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

2. What Áncora is for

Áncora is a tool for personal spiritual reflection and devotional reading. Each day we publish a scripture passage, a reflection written by our human editors, a prayer, and optional narrated audio. The app is intended for your own devotional use.

Áncora is not a substitute for pastoral care, spiritual direction from a qualified minister, medical advice, psychiatric care, or professional counseling. Reading a devotional is not therapy.

If you are in a mental-health crisis, please reach out to a qualified professional or a crisis line:

3. Content and sources

Scripture passages in Áncora come from the Reina-Valera 1909 (RV1909) translation, which is in the public domain worldwide.

Devotional reflections, prayers, editorial commentary, images, audio narrations, and the overall look and feel of Áncora are original editorial content written and produced by Áncora's human editors and contributors, and are copyrighted to MEAS Partners, LLC.

We do not use AI to write devotional or theological content. Reflections and prayers are written by people. We may use software to help with spelling, layout, or audio production, but the theological substance is human.

4. Your account

You can use Áncora in two ways:

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials private and for activity that happens under your account. If you suspect unauthorized use, change your password and contact us.

5. Acceptable use

You may use Áncora for personal, non-commercial devotional use. You may not:

6. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

Áncora offers an optional premium subscription (Áncora Premium) with the following pricing at launch:

New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and your Apple ID will be charged the price of the plan you selected.

All subscriptions are processed through Apple In-App Purchase and managed by Apple under your Apple ID. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iOS device. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; we do not issue pro-rated refunds for partial periods.

We use RevenueCat to verify Apple receipts and keep track of your subscription status across devices. We never see your credit card or Apple ID password.

Prices may change. If we change the price of an existing subscription, we will notify you in advance through the app or by email, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

7. Family sharing

A Premium subscription may be shared with up to four (4) additional household members through Áncora's built-in family feature. The person who purchased the subscription is the "owner" and may add or remove members using in-app invite codes.

Áncora's family sharing is separate from Apple's Family Sharing. We do not use Apple Family Sharing for subscription entitlements.

By adding a family member, the owner agrees that the member will have access to Premium content while they remain in the group. The owner is responsible for the conduct of members they invite. Family members do not share reading progress, saved verses, or streaks with each other — each person's devotional journey is private.

8. Intellectual property

RV1909 scripture text is in the public domain where applicable and is used on that basis. All other content — including Áncora branding, logos, typography, illustrations, audio narrations, and the compiled reflection and prayer library — is the property of MEAS Partners, LLC and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You receive a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the app for your own devotional use. That license ends if you violate these Terms or stop using the service.

9. User-provided information

During onboarding and in settings, we may ask for your name, your interests, and similar information so we can personalize the experience. You own anything you provide. You grant us a limited license to store and process that information to operate the service (see our Privacy Policy for details). We do not use your personal information, reading history, or any content you provide to train AI models.

10. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where possible we will tell you why.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app, or by emailing hello@ancoraapp.org. Deleting your account removes your personal data on the timeline described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting the app alone does not delete your account on our servers — please use the in-app option or email us.

11. Disclaimers

Áncora is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scripture text, reflections, translations, or audio are free of typographical, editorial, or factual errors. We may change, add, remove, or correct content at any time.

Áncora is a devotional tool. It is not a crisis resource, not a counseling service, not a telehealth provider, and not a replacement for a qualified minister, therapist, or physician. See Section 2 above for crisis resources.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MEAS Partners, LLC and its officers, members, employees, and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including lost data, lost profits, emotional distress, or personal injury. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) US $50.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MEAS Partners, LLC from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your misuse of the service.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Arbitration. Any dispute between you and MEAS Partners, LLC arising from these Terms or your use of Áncora will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in the English language, with the seat of arbitration in Delaware. You and we each waive any right to a jury trial and any right to participate in a class action. Small-claims court disputes, and claims for injunctive relief to protect intellectual property, are excluded from this arbitration requirement. If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose law grants you non-waivable rights to a different forum, nothing here limits those rights.

Opt out. You may opt out of arbitration within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing hello@ancoraapp.org with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your account email.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the bottom and, for material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the service after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Contact
